Sorry, I don’t know what I was writing. In fact, I don’t know how to reproduce the halftone effect without using filter, and I don’t know how gradient stops (e.g. #fff 30%) would benefit the halftone effect.

Just make the gradient stop and start at a percentage to get a hard stop, rather than an actual gradient. It’ll be more flexible, maintainable and performant (in case you want to animate things).
